Salco’s partners have an approved Heat Treatment Chamber on site. Heat Treatment of wood packaging requires that wood is heated to a minimum core temperature of 133 degrees for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Once the heat treatment process is completed, each pallet is stamped with the assigned Heat Treatment Stamp issued by Package Research Laboratories, a national company responsible for auditing this process.
This stamp will identify with a code the company who completed the heat treatment process and will allow your product to be shipped anywhere in the world and be in compliance with ISPM 15.
At Salco we take wood recycling very seriously. All used wood pallets that are in good condition are placed in an inventory and made available to our customers for immediate resale.
Pallets that are too damaged for repair are disassembled for the usable boards. Other unusable lumber left over from the disassembled pallets, goes into grinders where it is grounded into mulch.
At Salco we have a great pallet repair program to benefit our customers and to offer them lower cost alternatives. Our repair program includes the pick up of reparable pallets, their repair and the option to sell them back at a discounted price.
Salco will work with our customers to schedule both the pick up and the delivery of the pallets to our customer’s locations. With our own fleet of trucks we have the capability and flexibility to meet our customer’s unique needs and expectations as well as their deadlines.
Many people are not aware that buying and utilizing repaired and used wood pallets can be a money-saving opportunity, especially in instances when they are shipping a product out and not getting their pallets back.
In addition, when purchasing recycled pallets our customers are contributing to Salco’s commitment to preserving the environment.
Salco’s recycling division obtains used and broken pallets through a variety of sources including scrap and pallet removals from our customers. If your company is interested in working with Salco to dispose your unwanted pallets, we can help. We have several programs to offer and even offer compensation if the value of the material picked up is more than the cost to send a driver and truck.
The 48 x 40 pallets are the most valuable. Other sizes such as 36 x 36, 42 x 42, 48 x 42, and 48 x 48 also have some value. The amount of credit is based on the size and condition of the pallet.
